• Gili Tepekong & Mimpang

    Gili Mimpang Shark point

A beautiful sites with or without the White Tip Reef Sharks so often seen here. Great corals & Barrel Sponges, usually very good visibility and so much too see. Bright yellow & black Sweet lips, more than holding-their-own against the currents. Sometimes Turtle and Napoleon Wrasse frequent down-currents making this a site for serious divers only.

    Gili Tepekong

A hug volcanic hump rising out of the water,Gili Tepekong is not far from the Candi Dasa coust of Bali. Under water, this area is covered with rock outcrops that vary from huge boulders down to small rock gardens. Richly adorned with blood-red sea fans, tunicates and various sponges,at time the competition for space amid the corals is incredible. There are areas where you can not rest on the bottom for fear of damaging the thick growth. The currents mean that pelagic life like big tuna, jacks, sharks and sometimes mola come in to feed, but those same current are worthy of respect and an experienced guide is a must. Wind driven swells big wave and strong down-drifts are all possiblitties. Similar sites close by rocks around Gili Mimpang, and around Gili Biaha a little further up the coast.

    Gili Biaha Shark Cave

A small wall, a rich slope, and a cave at 12m in which more often than not you can find White Tips. This cave is also home to a large population of lobsters. In rougher conditions access to the cave is impossible, though the rest of the dive site should still be accessible. Not only big pelagic but good reef fish too, with countless species of Butterfly fish & Fusiliers.

where : these small islands and rocky outcrops lie just a kilometre off the east of Bali. In good condition the three in Amuk Bay - Gili Mimpang, Gili tepekong and Gili Biaha-can be reached in 20 minutes by local boat from Padang Bay and one hour trip by road from Nusa Dua or Kuta.

High Lights : Dive these islands for t5he best chance of seeing shark in Bali. Lots of big ocean fish & swirls of reef fish are every where. In areas battred by the currents the coral growth is stunted, but still healty and full of life.

Condition : All these sites are prone to the strongest currents, which can then bring in some chilling water. This can couse tempratures to drop from the usual high 20C down to low 20C instead. Very often great visiblity, with calm condition in the high tide window.

Great Dive ! The Staff at dugong were extremely professional ! Very Friendly !, The pickup was punctual, and the dives well planned. The best part of the company was its attention to safety !! the equipment is the best in bali, and instructor were extremely detail oriented in all aspects safety related i would definitely come again.
